Learning by Example is the Best way for many people to learn. I certainly learned the most out of the Total Diplomacy book from the Scenarios. That being said, I have taken it upon my self to list scenarios of Diplomacy. Table Talk is the term me and my risk loving friends use to describe a major politcal engagments that occur during a game. These often are a the major turning point that occurs right before the Major invasions, so it is Crucial that you turn these around into your favor.  I would encourage everyone to record any table Talk, whether it worked or not in your favor.

By the way, I love to play the Regular board game in person rather then over the internet, which is why my table talk example is more Drawn out and has more extensive vocabulary then online chat box table talks will allow. I encourage both, still however.

Nice choice of terminology. ... Let's do a bit of Table Talk before battle ... or let's TT.

Happy to see that scenarios are popular. I quite like the idea of Table Talk example. As you probably guess I agree that there is a lot of diplomacy in these talks and it contributes greatly to the success of any move that follows. It's relatively easier to capture this information in online games since it is just the log of the chatbox. Unfortunately they are usually heavily abbreviated and are full of noise. A log of a normal Risk game will give us a lot of insight into what exactly takes place before a a critical part of the game. we can do some correlation analysis and find out the relationship between the right spear words and getting eliminated from the games. Oops I guess I got carried away...

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you have any examples you can offer.

I appreciate your idea of table talk. I think it would be great that before starting the game we discus all aspects of the game.

The LACK of meaningful Table Talk in online risk games (at least from my experience) is the biggest detraction from the game. It is hard to get into the head-space of a completely silent "table" full of people. Which, In person can be a great way to unnerve an opponent, but online makes it feel like you are playing against the computer.
